I am so depressed that Gourmet is closing it’s doors. It was going to happen but to hear it makes me so sad. People are commenting that it lost touch and was to hard to cook from etc but it served as an inspiration and was always shot so well. Visually the magazine was everything I wanted and now there is a void.
And if you can’t cook something as simple and beautiful as one of my favourite covers from maggie then you are better off with take-out anyway..

almost cracked the dirtbomb recipe. had these with frances and family up in CT.
they are a baked donut type cupcake sort of thing with a hint of nutmeg and rolled in  sugar when they come hot out of the oven.

need salt? I won’t be running out soon.. had to buy this lump of pink salt today. It’s the size of a house brick. Now I just have to work out what I am going to do with it?
Saw the lumps in DWR that were a fifth of the size for the same price I paid for this whole thing.

what I love about fall is the return to cheap meals like bangers and mash and heavier red wines and beer. Even get to put a splash of bourbon in the gravy. Don’t worry beautifulordinaire it was some JD left over from a shoot ; )
